폴리곤(Polygon) 블록체인이 하드포크(hardpork)를 진행한다. 하드포크는 기존 블록체인을 기반으로 별도의 블록체인을 만들어 분리하는 업그레이드 방식이다.

폴리곤 랩스(Polygon Labs)은 12일(현지시간) 공식 홈페이지를 통해 오는 17일 폴리곤 네트워크 하드포크를 진행할 계획이라고 밝혔다. 이번 하드포크는 가스비(gas pee)를 조정해 블록체인 거래량이 급증할 때 가스비가 치솟는 상황을 완화한다.

폴리곤은 이더리움(ETH)의 사이드 체인으로 지분증명(PoS) 방식을 채택하고 있으며 이더리움 메인넷에 비해 저렴한 가스비를 제공한다. 그러나 네트워크에 트래픽이 몰리면 속도가 느려진다는 단점이 있다.

폴리곤은 리오그(reorg) 문제도 해결할 계획이다. 리오그는 블록체인 네트워크의 밸리에이터 노드가 정보를 받을 때 일시적으로 새로운 블록체인을 생성하는 현상으로 검증을 어렵게 한다. 폴리곤은 트랜잭션 검증 시간을 줄여 오류 발생 가능성을 낮춘다. 하드포크가 성공할 경우 블록 생성 시간은 128초에서 32초로 단축된다.
